Nathaniel Tetsuro Paolinelli
I am a fine art documentary photographer, rooted in Albuquerque since I was just nine months old. While my travels have taken me around the globe, no place holds my heart like New Mexico. It is here, amidst its rugged landscapes and vibrant communities, that I feel most connected and create my most meaningful work.
My photography is a heartfelt exploration of the realities and diversity that shape New Mexico’s rich cultural tapestry. Each image I capture reflects my deep connection to the people and places that embody the essence of this extraordinary state.
For me, storytelling is more than just capturing moments—it's about immersing myself in the lives, traditions, and histories that define the Land of Enchantment. Every photograph becomes a chapter in a larger narrative, revealing the resilience, beauty, and dynamism that make New Mexico so unique.
Through my work, I strive to provoke thought and inspire a deeper appreciation for the complexities that define this remarkable place. As both an observer and a participant in its ongoing story, I aim to celebrate the diversity of New Mexico as a profound source of strength and identity.
My book Seventh and Central: Lowriders (University of New Mexico Press, 2026) extends this work through a community-centered documentation of Albuquerque’s lowrider culture, rooted in family, friendship, craftsmanship, and cultural pride.
